Responsibilities

The ECMO Coordinator (EC) is a registered nurse or perfusionist who serves as the expert, educator, and resource coordinating and implementing daily operations of the Cardiohelp Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program. The EC acts as the lead ECMO Specialist (ES) and participates in direct patient care as needed. Responsibilities include ensuring daily practice, maintaining supplies and equipment, developing and adapting the ECMO training curriculum, reviewing proficiency of ES staff—including clinical competency, decision‑making, and professional conduct—and providing feedback to leaders on ES performance when necessary.

Qualifications
  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
  • 4‑year Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • BLS‑AHA Provider issued card required within 30 days of start
  • ACLS required within 90 days of hire/transfer
  • 3‑5 years of CVICU Nursing experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of CV ICU and ECMO Specialist experience
  • ELSO Adult ECMO Practitioner Certificate (E‑AEC) preferred and required within the first year in the Shock Coordinator position.
