Description

Job Summary:

Banquet Cook is responsible for the accurate, efficient, and timely preparation of all food items required for banquet events, conferences, special functions, and employee meals. This role supports the Banquet Chef and culinary leadership to ensure all dishes meet established quality standards, presentation guidelines, and safety protocols. Banquet Cook contributes to smooth kitchen operations by maintaining a clean and organized workspace, following production schedules, and delivering consistent, high‑quality food for large‑scale events.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce all assigned banquet food items according to recipes, plating guides, and production schedules.
  • Ensure timely preparation of food for catering functions, plated meals, buffets, breaks, and amenities.
  • Maintain a high standard of food quality, consistency, and presentation for all banquet items.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of banquet kitchen stations before, during, and after service.
  • Follow direction from the Banquet Chef and culinary leadership regarding daily tasks, specials, or new menu items.
  • Properly label, date, rotate, and store all food products according to company and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized work area in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support accurate portion control and adherence to recipe specifications to maintain food cost standards.
  • Communicate effectively with culinary team members to ensure smooth operations during high‑volume execution.
  • Assist with basic inventory needs, including stocking ingredients and reporting low‑par items to supervisors.
  • Uphold all food safety guidelines, including temperature controls, hygiene practices, and proper equipment use.
  • Perform additional job‑related duties as assigned by culinary leadership.

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift

  • Requires the ability to use hands, wrists, and fingers for chopping, lifting, and equipment operation.
  • Must have close vision, depth perception, and the ability to see color and detail for food presentation.

Qualifications, Education, Experience,

Skills and Abilities

  • Previous culinary experience in banquets, catering, or high‑volume kitchen environments preferred.
  • Strong knife skills and understanding of basic cooking techniques.
  • Ability to follow recipes, production sheets, and plating diagrams with accuracy and consistency.
  • Excellent organization, time‑management, and multitasking skills.
  • Must work well under pressure in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Basic understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food‑handling procedures.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including hot kitchen environments and cold prep areas.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high‑quality service.
