About This Opportunity

This is an evergreen requisition intended to build a pipeline of qualified candidates for future Pastry Cook opportunities across World Equestrian Center's bakeries, restaurants, banquet operations, catering venues, and specialty culinary outlets. While there may not be an immediate opening at the time of application, candidates who apply to this posting will be considered first as positions become available.

Position Summary

The Pastry Cook is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of pastries, desserts, baked goods, and specialty items in accordance with World Equestrian Center standards. This position supports daily pastry operations by following recipes, maintaining quality standards, ensuring food safety compliance, and contributing to an exceptional guest experience.

Successful candidates possess a passion for baking, strong attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced culinary environment.

Measure, mix, shape, bake, decorate, and finish bakery and pastry items.

Ensure consistency in product quality, appearance, taste, and presentation.

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.

Maintain proper food labeling, dating, storage, and rotation procedures.

Assist with buffet, banquet, restaurant, retail, catering, and special event dessert production.

Decorate cakes and desserts utilizing approved techniques and presentation standards.

Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to supervisors.

Receive, inspect, and properly store pastry and baking ingredients.

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation and production area.

Operate bakery and pastry equipment safely and efficiently.

Assist with seasonal offerings, special events, holiday programs, and custom orders.

Support opening, closing, cleaning, and side work responsibilities.

Work collaboratively with chefs, culinary leadership, and fellow team members.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and bakery environment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

Ability to follow recipes, production schedules, and preparation guidelines.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Availability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Preferred

Previous pastry, bakery, dessert production, or culinary experience.

Formal culinary or pastry training preferred but not required.

Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and production methods.

Experience in hotel, restaurant, resort, bakery, or high-volume production environments.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout the shift.

Ability to work in varying temperature environments, including bakery production areas, kitchens, freezers, and coolers.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

Ability to safely operate commercial bakery and kitchen equipment.
