Facilities Specialist

• Perform a variety of carpentry, renovation, and construction work
• Operate equipment, mowers, power tools and equipment
• Climb ladders, lift and carry heavy objects and other construction
• Repair and maintain equipment
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and construction work; perform concrete, landscaping, and painting work
• Perform ongoing preventive maintenance activities off facilities
• Maintain facility HVAC, plumbing
• Maintain vehicles and equipment; check vehicle oil, water, and air levels
• Cleans windows
• Paints and repairs walls, floor tiles
• Makes roof repairs
• Mows lawns, edges, lays sod, trims shrubs
• Meet with department staff
• Respond to requests
• Complete maintenance reports
• Perform related work as required

Possession of high school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years experience in building maintenance and repair; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

• Knowledge of building maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction practices, procedures, and methods
• Knowledge of principles and practices of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, and grounds maintenance
• Ability to effectively and safely operate a variety of power tools, construction equipment, and heavy machinery and vehicles
• Ability to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance, repair, and construction activities
• Ability to perform physical labor including but not limited to lifting, carrying, climbing, walking, reaching, and bending
• Ability to work outdoors exposed to extreme weather conditions including sun, wind, rain
• Ability to use care and proper protective equipment when exposed to bio-hazardous materials
• Ability to operate motor vehicles
• Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, contractors, outside agencies, and the general public

Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment. Complete SMA required training during the first six (6) months of employment and updated if required.

Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 50 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible.
