General Job Description

Job Summary:

The Service/ Warranty Technician is responsible for completing residential electrical work on homes before and after homeowners move in, ensuring all electrical is properly functioning in the new home.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Hot Checks
  • Able to accurately complete 'Hot Checks' prior to final inspection and homeowner closing.
  • Must have knowledge in energizing and deenergizing homes.
  • Confirming all equipment is properly installed and functional.
  • Able to troubleshoot any faulty equipment, circuit, and breakers.
  • Must communicate with the service manager and supervisor regarding any issues that arise during 'Hot Checks'.
  • Ensure the home is left in 'move in' condition.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Punch Lists
  • Must be able to complete Punch List - a quality checklist from the builder or homeowner of any issues identified during the walk through.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and read blueprints/floor plans.
  • Must have National Electric Code (NEC) knowledge.
  • Must communicate with the manager regarding any issues that arise.
Specific Qualifications
  • Electrical trade knowledge for all aspects of residential electrical.
  • Ability to read prints and scale to ensure placement of fixtures, receptacles, switches, etc.
  • Must have their own standard residential electrical tools.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have specialty tool use knowledge - e.g., Jack Hammer, Generator, Multimeter, Toner.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read paperwork and fill out necessary information.
Education And Experience
  • Previous experience in all phases of residential electrical.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
  • Must be able to work in hot and confined spaces (attic work).
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to work on-call schedule on rotation with other service employees.
  • Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods of time to reach service locations.
  • Ability to safely operate company van in various weather and road conditions.
