Event Manager / Planner
Serves as Assistant Manager of the Racquet Center. Assists Racquet Center Manager in planning, implementing, directing, and monitoring the functions of the ocean City Racquet Center operations.
The Racquet Center Assistant Coordinator assists with the planning, implementing, directing and monitoring of all functions of the thirteen-court racquet facility. Work includes staff supervisory functions in the absence of the General Manager, and assisting with reports. Assists in the oversight of the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facility, apparel shop, a lounge and an outdoor deck area. Knowledge and experience in tennis and pickleball is preferred.
General recreation management experience in a sports environment preferred. Must be able to work a varied schedule including evenings and weekends. Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a post offer drug test and background check. To apply electronically go to (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). $18.43 per hour, 40 hours a week. If certified, there is an opportunity to earn extra money by leading private/small group lessons at a percentage of established fees during season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist Recreation Supervisors in the day-to-day operation of recreational programs for all ages in a Coordinator’s capacity, which may include setting up of programs, ordering supplies, team selections, coaches training, program monitoring, registration, money handling and other duties as assigned.
- Assists the Racquet Center Manager in supervising and managing the operations of the Racquet Center.
- Assists in hiring, supervising, training, and evaluating operational staff including teaching professionals, instructors, coordinators, and attendants.
- Schedules staff to maximize effectiveness and profitability.
- Responsible for maximizing play while not overcrowding the facility.
- Assists in instruction including youth and adult programs.
- Responsible for racquet shop inventory and control.
- Responsible for revenue collection and depositing.
- Responsible for staff input into Rec Trac for court reservations, program registration and point of sale.
- Responsible for regular court maintenance, overseeing of daily court maintenance
- Assists with tournament planning, execution and evaluation including enforcement of rules, tournament seeding, etc.
- Works on programs related to the USTA, including: tournament software, sponsored programs or events, etc.
- Will function as Tournament Referee or Tournament Director in the absence of Racquet Center Manager at all tournaments.
- Enforce all facility rules and regulations governing the use of facility, its equipment and other property
- Enthusiastically encourages tennis participation by assisting in events to promote the sport and fellowship in the facility. Prepare activities for such events.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Directly supervises 9 – 14 temporary seasonal employees.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and evaluating employees; plan, assign, and direct work tasks; address complaints; resolve problems.
- Experience and knowledge of running and operating a racquet facility
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers and general public. Strong communication, organization and leadership skills. Ability to provide proactive, high quality customer service.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add; subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
