Basketball Official - Part-Time Temporary

Part Time Youth Sports Officials

Part time youth basketball officials are responsible for officiating scheduled games. Prior experience in officiating youth sports is desirable. Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent required. Must be eighteen years of age or older. Knowledge of the rules of the game is required. Must have a high level of independent judgment. Must attend an interview and training session.

Ability to work 3-8 hours a week. Ability to work flexible schedule, evening work required. Job availability November – March. Rate of pay is $25.00/hour. Ability to follow City policies and regulations. Must be able to pass a post offer drug test and background check.

• Act as an official for youth boys and girls basketball games including calling penalties, occasionally keeping time, and keeping score
• Enforce league rules
• Uphold department policies and philosophies regarding sportsmanship
• Aid coaches in educating youth players of rules
• Complete necessary reports
• Oversight of players and coaches before, during and after games

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent required
• Minimum 18 years old
• Basic knowledge of basketball
• Ability to read and interpret league rules
• Ability to communicate effectively with coaches and kids while maintaining a professional demeanor
