Definition:

Under close supervision of a Senior or Supervising Parking Attendant, performs the routine work involved in operating a parking facility used for the temporary parking of motor vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collects money for parking fees and makes change; directs traffic into parking spaces; operates entrance gate; gives directions to visitors concerning the location of city facilities; keeps parking areas clean; counts money collected and reconciles with receipts; cleans trash around parking lots; performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:

Knowledge of:
The problems and proper procedures involved in operating a parking facility.

Ability to:
Remember and carry out oral and written instructions; add, subtract, multiply, and divide using decimals, percentages, and fractions; learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units; read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position; and be courteous at all times.

Special Requirements:

Employees are required to wear the uniform provided at all times.

Minimum Age Requirement: 16

Tools and Equipment Used:

Parking lot gates; may drive a car or ride a bike.

Physical Demands:

Position requires employee to:
Continuously stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; occasionally sit, talk or hear, and reach with hands and arms; and occasionally stoop or kneel and lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision requirements:
Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Position requires employee to:
Continuously work near the moving entrance gate and moving vehicles, be exposed to auto fumes, and work in outdoor weather conditions such as sun, heat, rain, and wind; and occasionally work in wet conditions, be exposed to airborne particles such as sand. Employee may occasionally be required to change work hours or work beyond normal quitting time.
