This position is supported by external grant funding and is contingent upon grant approval, continued funding availability, program needs, and enrollment demand.

Appointment Term:
Temporary appointment for the duration of the grant-funded program period or as otherwise determined by organizational need.

The Educator enhances the performance and professional development of Singing River Health System employees. He/She develops and coordinates educational programs and materials for traditional non-clinical areas of training. The Educator facilitates the development of SRHS departments through active participation in orientation, training, on-going staff development and evaluation for all levels of personnel served.

The Educator participates in the development of formal and informal education programs and activities to improve quality standards and outcomes as well as staff performance expectations. He/She serves as a resource and educator on new policies, procedures, equipment, and training. The Educator keeps abreast of current training requirements and facilitates the implementation of SRHS initiatives.

The Educator adjusts working hours and availability as needed or as assigned (evenings/nights/weekends) to meet the educational needs of the staff. The Educator performs utilizing the DNV/CMS accreditation standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control and the SRHS Department of Nursing Plan for the Provision of Care, Treatment and Services.

Education:

Associate’s Degree required. Bachelor degree in Healthcare Administration, Education, Business, or health care related field preferred.

License:

N/A

Certifications:

Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.

BLS instructor certification required at (or within 6 months of) job start; must maintain certification.

Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.

Experience:

Two (2) years’ experience in Education or Human Resources. Previous teaching experience or evidence of teaching ability preferred.

None Physical Demands:

Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease. Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard.

Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.
