Shift: 7PM-7AM.

Location:

Singing River Ocean Springs Hospital.

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients to attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is demonstrated by knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The nurse provides patient care using the Nursing Process within the Mississippi Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and applicable accreditation standards and guidelines.

• Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with regulatory and professional standards.
• Adhere to departmental plans for provision of care, treatment, and services.
• Participate in ongoing performance evaluation and quality improvement activities as applicable.

• Education:
  
  Graduate from NLN School of Nursing.
• License:
  Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
• Certifications:
  
  All RNs are required to maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. Specialty certifications vary by area (examples include ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP, NRP Neonatal Resuscitation, etc.).

• Minimum of one year of inpatient clinical experience preferred. Experience must be within the past five years, or evidence of a successful refresher program.

Reports to:

Patient Care Manager. Supervises: LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians.

Work is moderately active and may require sitting, movement around the facility, and travel to other SRHS locations. Exerts a negligible amount of force to move objects, and involves repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers. Exposure to body fluids and infectious materials may occur. Requires close visual acuity and the ability to focus on computer screens and printed materials. Ability to be active for extended periods and to work varying schedules, including weekends and off days as needed.

Requires keen assessment and decision-making abilities, strong communication skills, emotional stability, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Must maintain attention to detail and multi-task in complex situations.

Superior customer service, professional etiquette, computer literacy (keyboard proficient), and proficiency with MS Outlook and Word. Ability to apply clinical judgment across patient populations of all ages.
