Job Cost Accountant Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain job cost accounting, including tracking labor, materials, overhead, and project expenses.
• Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., prevailing wage/Davis-Bacon).
• Ensure payroll and job cost data align accurately with project budgets and contracts.
• Reconcile payroll, general ledger, and job cost accounts.
• Monitor project profitability and provide cost variance analysis and reporting.
• Work closely with project managers, payroll, and operations teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain compliance with labor laws, union requirements, and government reporting standards.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Support audits by providing payroll, job cost, and financial documentation.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
• 3+ years of accounting experience with job costing and certified payroll.
• Strong knowledge of prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Quick Books, or similar).
• Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
