Job Title
The Person nel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled.
There is currently ONE position open at the District Office. This is a 5 hour/day, 12-month position. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of specialized and complex clerical support duties at an assigned office or school site; translate materials verbally and in writing to and from Spanish; and greet and assist parents, staff, students and the community in English and Spanish;
and assist in ensuring smooth and efficient office operations.
Training and experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of progressively responsible clerical work and ability to speak, read, and write in a designated second language. Related work experience in an educational environment is desirable. Knowledge of correct English and Spanish usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition. Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment.
Basic terminology, processes, and operations of assigned office. Operation of a computer and assigned software. Record-keeping and filing techniques. Telephone techniques and etiquette. Basic report preparation techniques. Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies. Applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations. Basic math. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish. Translate oral and written communications to and from Spanish. Perform a variety of clerical work requiring an understanding of a process or functional area. Answer telephones and greet the public courteously. Operate standard office equipment. Make calculations with accuracy and speed. Perform clerical work independently. Meet schedules and timelines. Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
Compose routine correspondence and written materials independently. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Learn, understand, interpret, and explain applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
