Position Summary
The Person nel Commission announces an open and promotional recruitment for one position at El Camino High School. This 8‑hour per day, 10‑month position involves cashiering and clerical accounting record‑keeping work related to secondary student‑body funds, maintenance of records for school clubs and activities, and general clerical duties. The recruitment will establish an integrated eligibility list for current and future vacancies.
Promotional candidates receive seniority points added to final passing scores (0.25 point per year of classified service, up to 5 points).
- Perform cashiering and clerical accounting record‑keeping work of moderate difficulty.
- Maintain records and files pertaining to school clubs, activities and other programs.
- Execute general clerical duties.
- Make arithmetical calculations with accuracy and speed.
- Compile and maintain accurate and complete records and reports.
- Operate office equipment and computer software.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Deal tactfully and courteously with students, district staff, and the public.
- Establish and maintain professional, cooperative, and effective working relationships.
- High‑school graduate or equivalent education.
- Minimum of two years of varied clerical accounting record‑keeping work, preferably with substantial public contact.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles, practices, and procedures.
- Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
- Methods and practices of financial and statistical record keeping.
- Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment.
- Operation of a computer and assigned software.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Ability to perform clerical accounting work without continuous supervision.
- Use of independent judgment for accounting work requiring accuracy and speed.
- Meeting schedules and timelines.
- Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions.
