Job Description

As a Medical Office Clerk, you'll provide front-desk, patient scheduling, and medical records support within a military healthcare environment. Working with patients, visitors, healthcare providers, and administrative teams, you'll coordinate appointments, verify eligibility, maintain accurate records, and help keep daily clinic operations organized and responsive.

Compensation
  • $18.83–$23.54 USD per hour
  • Health & Welfare (H&W):
    Up to $5.09 per hour, in accordance with the Service Contract Act (SCA).
Schedule

PRN coverage is scheduled as needed, Monday–Friday with assigned shifts between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., excluding federal holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors and provide front-desk assistance.
  • Answer incoming calls, route callers to the appropriate department, and take messages as needed.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel primary, specialty, and subspecialty care appointments.
  • Determine patient eligibility for services using applicable military healthcare systems, including DEERS, and provide general appointment instructions.
  • Create appointment schedules and templates using CHCS/AHLTA or MHS GENESIS.
  • Process and maintain inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory procedure medical records.
  • Organize and review patient records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Locate records and help ensure required documentation is available before scheduled appointments.
  • Obtain test results and other documentation requested by healthcare providers.
  • Compile or extract medical records data to support regulatory compliance.
  • Complete end-of-day scheduling processes and resolve pending or delinquent appointments.
  • Perform additional administrative and clerical duties supporting patient care and clinic operations.
Qualifications Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • At least six months of experience in an office setting.
  • Ability to type at least 50 words per minute.
  • Administrative and clerical experience, including receptionist duties and answering telephones.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and other office software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, telephone etiquette, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to obtain authorization to access a military installation and be issued a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Knowledge of general medical ethics.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
