Job Overview
The Person nel Commission announces an open and promotional recruitment for 30‑hour/week, 10‑month special‑education support positions at multiple school sites. Promotional candidates earn seniority points toward final passing scores. Positions will be filled by a site administrator and supervised daily by a credentialed teacher, providing instructional support and behavior‑management assistance to students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The positions may involve classroom work or support for a single student as required by the IEP.
Responsibilities- Provide instructional support and assistance to teachers and students receiving special education services.
- Perform instructional support and behavior‑management activities for students with IEPs.
- Reinforce and support instruction for students as directed in their IEPs.
- Learn and utilize methods and procedures for instructional settings.
- Assist with instruction and related activities in a classroom or assigned learning environment.
- Perform clerical duties related to classroom activities.
- Maintain professional, cooperative, and confidential working relationships.
- High school diploma or equivalent; extensive and demonstrated (paid or volunteer) experience working with children.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
- Valid certifications in First Aid, Adult/Child CPR, and AED from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or district‑approved provider.
- Current, valid California driver’s license (where required).
- Knowledge of principles and practices related to students receiving special education services.
- Understanding of behavior issues and concerns of special‑education students.
- Familiarity with general subjects taught in district schools.
- Safe classroom practice and basic instructional methods.
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Basic record‑keeping techniques and classroom procedure knowledge.
- Ability to interpret and follow rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
