Job Title
The Person nel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled.
(The names of eligible candidates on the current list will be merged to the new list in accordance with final scores) There is currently ONE position open at Santa Margarita Elementary. This is a 6 hour/day, 10 month position. Under the supervision of a site administrator and daily direction of a credentialed teacher(s), perform a variety of supportive tasks and instructional activities in the Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program;
facilitate student engagement and interaction with the curriculum, learning environment, and peers; utilize specialized skills for the care, supervision, and teaching of TK students; and perform related duties and tasks as required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of education and experience including graduation from high school or equivalent and extensive and demonstrated (paid or volunteer) experience working with children. KNOWLEDGE OF General concepts of child growth, development, and behavior. General subjects taught in District schools. Safe practices in classroom activities. Basic instructional methods, techniques, and strategies. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Basic record-keeping techniques. Classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct. ABILITY TO Provide instructional support and assistance to teachers and students. Reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students. Learn and utilize methods and procedures to be followed in an instructional setting. Assist with instruction and related activities in a classroom or assigned learning environment.
Monitor, observe, and report student behavior and progress according to approved policies and procedures. Reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students as directed by the teacher. Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures. Perform clerical duties related to classroom activities. Operate standard office and classroom equipment. Analyze issues and determine appropriate course of action. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Communicate with diverse groups and individuals. Understand and work within the scope of authority. Work confidentially with discretion.
