The Painting Professional provides direct support, instruction, and creative enrichment to participants in TERI's Center for the Arts program. This role is responsible for developing and leading adapted painting and visual arts experiences that accommodate a wide range of abilities while promoting creativity, self-expression, skill development, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is a passionate artist and educator who is committed to empowering individuals with developmental disabilities through meaningful artistic experiences.
YourRole & Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate adapted painting and visual arts lessons for individuals with varying abilities and skill levels.
- Teach painting, drawing, and mixed-media techniques with a primary focus on acrylic painting and related mediums.
- Create engaging, client-centered art experiences that promote creativity, self-expression, and skill development.
- Support participants in achieving goals outlined in their individual program plans while providing direct support and supervision.
- Assist with the planning and execution of TERI artist exhibits, art shows, and special events.
- Maintain knowledge of current art education practices, painting techniques, and adaptive teaching methods.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, Active Treatment principles, behavior support plans, and safety protocols.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Art Education, Studio Art, Fine Arts, Painting, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, preferably in a day program or educational setting.
- Experience teaching or facilitating painting and visual arts instruction for diverse skill levels.
- Ability to obtain a Class B Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record for at least two years.
$25.00 Hourly
