A Mammography Technologist (Mammo Tech) is responsible for performing high-quality mammographic imaging procedures to assist radiologists in detecting breast abnormalities, including breast cancer. The Mammo Tech ensures patient safety, comfort, and compliance with regulatory and quality standards such as those established by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Key Responsibilities- Perform screening and diagnostic mammography exams
- Operate mammography equipment safely and efficiently
- Adjust technical factors to produce high-quality images
- Review images for clarity and diagnostic quality
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation
- Follow radiation safety and infection control procedures
- Ensure compliance with MQSA, HIPAA, and facility protocols
- Assist radiologists with additional imaging views when required
- Perform routine quality assurance checks on mammography equipment
- Report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of imaging rooms
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology
- Active ARRT certification in Radiography (R)
- ARRT Mammography certification (M)
- State Radiologic Technologist license
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Minimum 1 year of mammography experience
- Experience with digital mammography and 3D tomosynthesis
- Strong patient care and communication skills
