Summary

As Regional Optical Manager, you’ll oversee all aspects of UVP optical departments—from team leadership and training to inventory management and patient satisfaction. You'll work directly with Site Supervisors and UVP Operations to ensure our high standards of care and service are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory and vendor relationships
  • Develop product pricing strategies
  • Ensure outstanding patient service and satisfaction
  • Coordinate team meetings and implement performance goals
  • Analyze financial and sales data to drive department success
  • Handle insurance billing, frame and lens pricing
  • Maintain a professional, polished, and welcoming environment
  • Perform frame adjustments, repairs, dispensing, and troubleshooting prescriptions
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Must have knowledge of optical terminology, optical adjustments, eyewear measurements, and vision insurance pricing and knowledge.
  • Must possess some ability to understand eye disease and how it can affect vision.
  • Must have the ability to use Optical tools including the lensometer and be able to follow optical quality checklist for new eyewear arrivals.
  • The ability to teach contact lens wearers how to insert, remove and care for contacts.
  • Possesses a wide range of knowledge applicable to modern optometric care and current trends in eyewear.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to properly fit frames and take necessary measurements needed to complete order. Advise patients of beneficial lens options.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze and fill ophthalmic and optometric prescriptions.
  • Ensure that patients are properly educated regarding their vision prescription and available options.
  • Maintain emphasis on profitable operations while satisfying patient needs. Complete KPI reports as assigned.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of quality, honesty, and patient service.
  • Work with other departments to ensure comprehensive completion of all operational tasks.
  • Order all products to stock dispensary working within budget; obtain approval on inventory purchases from clinic manager.
  • Complete all patient orders, including frames, lenses, and contact lenses.
  • Responsible for returns of defective or unused products.
  • Provide repairs and adjustments for all frames.
  • Review jobs for accuracy / check-in lab work. Contact patient when orders are ready for pick up.
  • Complete nightly deposits
  • Responsible for management and collection of patient orders and payments
  • Maintain appearance of dispensary and displays.
  • Ensure that all dispensary-related objectives are met. Review pricing models with clinic manager. Keep pricing updates.
  • Meet with frame representatives quarterly or as needed to refurnish depleted inventory, return old inventory.
  • This position is in an office, and remote is not available.
  • Other duties as needed.
Education And/Or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ten+ years as an Optician, Five+ years’ experience Optical Management.
  • ABOC preferred.
  • NCLE preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of optical management, and support staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Direct or indirect responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising work performance, rewarding, and disciplining team members. Addresses team member issues and concerns, facilitates conflict resolution.
