Position Summary
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) will serve as the primary People & Culture partner for Suja’s plant operations. This role is highly visible, hands‑on, and embedded in the day‑to‑day rhythm of the plant, supporting leaders and employees across all shifts. The HRBP will partner closely with plant leadership to drive performance, engagement, compliance, and a strong, people‑first culture while ensuring alignment with Suja’s values and business objectives.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Employee Relations & Engagement
- Lead employee relations matters including investigations, corrective action, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Serve as a visible, approachable HR presence on the plant floor
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written), with the ability to conduct employee relations conversations and deliver HR guidance in both languages.
- Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, safety, and engagement
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Partner with leaders on attendance, leaves of absence, accommodations, and return‑to‑work processes
- Support audits, documentation, and consistent application of policies
- Strategic Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to Plant Management on people strategy, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and change management
- Translate business and operational goals into practical people solutions
- Support leaders in building strong teams, developing talent, and driving accountability
- Utilize HR data and metrics to identify trends, measure HR effectiveness, and inform decision‑making processes within the plant.
- Talent & Performance
- Partner with Talent Acquisition on hourly and salaried hiring needs
- Support onboarding, training, and retention initiatives for plant employees
- Guide leaders through performance reviews, talent development, and succession planning
- HR Operations
- Partner with Payroll, Benefits, Learning & Development and HR Operations to support employee lifecycle needs
- Be the eyes and ears in the plant to identify risks and opportunities
- Support HR initiatives, programs, and change rollouts at the plant level
- Help identify training needs within the plant and partner with the L&D Manager to develop programs to enhance employee skills and competencies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Implement initiatives to promote employee engagement, recognition, and retention within the manufacturing plant.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Job Duties
- May perform similar and incidental duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, PHR or SHRM a plus.
- 5+ years HR experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment. CPG industry a plus.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, regulations and HR best practices within California’s manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge in employee relations and HR compliance. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems, UKG a plus.
- Excellent English and Spanish oral, written and presentation communication skills required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Must be agile and quick to respond to changes and the needs of Team Members and/or the organization.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- Strong conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills. Ability to navigate complex employee situations. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Self‑motivated, personable, strong attention to detail and follow up. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Ethical and compassionate. Proven ability to build relationships.
- Typically functions in an office environment and manufacturing environment.
- Use of computer, keyboard, and telephone required.
- Frequent walk‑throughs in manufacturing environment are required where temperatures are around 35 degrees.
- Requires occasional work on nights, 3rd shift, and weekends to support the plant as needed.
