Position Summary
The Operations Hands-on Trainer delivers practical, on-the-floor training to Operations team members, ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent manufacturing, packaging, and warehouse processes. This role supports operational readiness by onboarding new hires, cross-training existing employees, reinforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and aiding continuous improvement initiatives. As a subject matter expert, the trainer helps maintain quality, safety, and performance standards on the production floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver hands on job specific training for Operations roles (Production, Bottling, Packaging, HPP, Warehouse, Shipping/Receiving).
- Train team members on SOPs, SSOPs, GMPs, HACCP, and safety procedures to ensure compliance and consistency.
- Support onboarding new hires by guiding them through required operational training and verifying task competency.
- Provide cross training to support workforce flexibility and operational coverage.
- Observe work practices on the floor and provide real-time coaching and corrective guidance as needed.
- Partner with Operations leadership to identify skill gaps, training needs, and retraining opportunities.
- Document training completion using approved training rosters and systems.
- Reinforce quality, food safety, and workplace safety standards during all training activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by helping implement updated processes or equipment training.
- Assist with pre shift meetings, demonstrations, and knowledge reinforcement activities.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions related to safety, equipment operation, and daily work assignments.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Non-Essential Duties
- May assist with operational support activities during peak production periods.
- May perform similar and incidental duties as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional technical, manufacturing, or safety training preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in food manufacturing, beverage operations, or warehouse operations.
- Prior experience training or mentoring employees strongly preferred.
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments (food safety, quality systems) preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of production, packaging, and warehouse operations.
- Ability to demonstrate tasks clearly and coach employees with varying skill levels.
- Solid understanding of SOPs, GMPs, HACCP, and safety requirements.
- Strong communication skills; able to explain processes clearly and patiently.
- Ability to observe performance, identify gaps, and provide constructive feedback.
- Comfortable working in paced, physical production environments.
- Proficient in basic documentation and training recordkeeping.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Working and Environmental Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a wet, refrigerated production environment with temperatures below 40°F
- May occasionally work in a dry warehouse setting with temperatures up to 85°F
- Occasional exposure to freezer environments as low as
-10°F - Work spaces may be tight or confined, requiring flexibility and awareness
- Regular exposure to loud environments exceeding 85 dBA, hearing protection is required
- Must follow strict safety protocols, including the use of PPE:
Safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, smock, beard nets, hair nets, and steel-toed shoes - Role involves repetitive tasks that must be performed safely and efficiently
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand and walk throughout the entire shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying of hoses, equipment, and chemical containers up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs with consistent motion
- Regular bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, twisting, and reaching overhead with both arms
- Able to climb ladders and stairs, and occasionally work at heights
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for gripping, handling, and controlling tools or objects with precision
- Occasional exposure to moving machinery
- Must be able to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
