Job SummaryThe Material Handler is responsible for the accurate reception, storage management, and issuing of all finished goods and raw materials.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Load, unload, move, count/pick, stack, and stage product and materials using a sit-down or stand-up forklift as required.
- Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Inspect assigned equipment daily and operate all equipment safely following work methods and OSHA standards.
- Drive electric powered devices such as forklift and elevating platforms to lift or stack products or materials.
- Assist in maintaining and promoting the safety of the warehouse; report issues and problems to management; support the company’s safety program and all safety initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Accurately pull and prepare materials using FIFO methodology for production orders.
- Responsible for filling out all documentation correctly and clearly.
- Inspect all materials during picking, shipping and receiving to ensure product number accuracy and material is free of damage.
- Follow the daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standard sanitation operating procedures (SSOPs).
- Follow company and OSHA safety rules, regulations, and guidelines at all times.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills; must work effectively with others.
- Work well with others.
- Ability to multi-task while being detail oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times.
- Knowledge of warehouse and lift truck experience preferred.
- Excellent attendance and dependability.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends on short notice.
- ERP knowledge preferred.
- Proficient personal computer skills (MS Office applications – Word, Office, Excel).
- Working knowledge of computers and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, unit of measure conversions.
$20/ Hour (starting rate may vary based on position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience).
