Forklift Operator

Job Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) to assist with material handling, shipping, receiving and other activities. The duties and responsibilities may expand as management deems necessary.

Location:

Oceanside DC Forklift Operator, main site within 2 miles.

• Comply with company Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Loads and unloads materials (4x16 pallets) onto or from trucks by forklift as required.
• Loads and verifies outgoing shipments for accuracy and quality/quantity of part numbers.
• Verifies products picked match the shipping order.
• Ensures items received are delivered and put away daily.
• Maintains material storage areas and receiving area clean from debris and trash.
• Distributes requested items to production line in an accurate and timely fashion as needed.
• Improves and maintains plant and outside yard 5S/Safety.
• Manually handles product combining and sorting material from pallet to pallet.
• Assists with yearly Physical Inventory.
• Participates in other projects as requested.
• Maintains regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility.

• Sorts, stages and loads pallets and related material safely, following Boral Forklift Safe Operation guidelines and policies.
• Assists in inventory management of pallets to ensure production operations continue without interruption.
• Operates a sit‑down forklift and/or electric pallet jack safely and efficiently.
• Works effectively within a diverse team environment and is productive while unsupervised.
• Possesses basic computer skills.
• Reads and interprets documents such as shipping/receiving information.
• Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Performs minor pallet repairs as needed.

• High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in a relevant skill or trade.
• 1–2 years of experience in a relevant field.

• Exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable.
• Withstands exposure to temperature extremes inside or out.
• Prolonged standing or stationary position.
• Completes repetitive movements.
• Bends and/or twists.
• Lifts/moves/transport items up to 50 pounds.
• Moves or traverses around facilities.
• Works around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions.
• Wears all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, and hardhat protection).
• Works split shift (to train off shifts on safety concerns and changes).
• Has clarity of hearing and speech.
• Can climb, balance, or smell as required.

$22.72 / hour
