As a TIG Welder you will:
The TIG Welder will prepare, tack weld and weld aerospace‑grade tube‑sheet and plate into customer‑defined configurations. The TIG Welder will use weld jigs, assembly fixtures and blueprints to meet all customer requirements. Welding will be done on thin‑wall materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel and titanium. Material thicknesses are 0.016 – 0.065 inches and weld types are tube‑to‑tube, tube‑to‑sheet and sheet‑to‑sheet.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Assess welds to ensure they are clean, free of error and in accordance with customer specifications.
- Maintain good working knowledge of the welding characteristics of metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, Inconel and titanium.
- Lay out, measure and align metal work pieces prior to welding.
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Select and install torch tips and filler rods according to material thickness and WPS (Weld Procedure Specification).
- Maintain a clean workstation following 5S and safety requirements.
- Perform other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate.
- Use required PPE for the department.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Be able to communicate and interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Have English skills both verbally and written.
- Basic math skills – add, subtract, and knowledge of the decimal system.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Be able to understand customer requirements and make determinations based on specifications and blueprint instructions.
- Self‑driven, quality focused, able to work in a team environment, and capable of following instructions.
- Good hand‑eye coordination, responsible and accountable, adaptable and flexible.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of TIG welding in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficient in TIG welding of thin‑wall materials, focusing on aluminum and stainless steel.
- Experience with TIG welds, filler rods, rotary tools and turn tables, and regulating gas flow and pressure.
- Good working knowledge of all welding positions and instrument operation.
- Working knowledge of calipers – how to read and accurately measure.
