Overview
The Oceanside Unified School District announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment to establish one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates receive seniority points (0.25 point per year of classified service, max 5 points). The list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and remain active for one year or until canceled. Names on the current list will be merged to the new list in accordance with final scores.
There are multiple positions open at various sites. These are 7.5 hour/day, 11-month positions.
Under general supervision of the Director of Student Services and the professional direction of a California credentialed school nurse, a Licensed Vocational Nurse provides specialized health care services and procedures (SPHCS) to medically fragile students and students with exceptional needs, as well as general education students.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited vocational nursing program
- Two years of acute nursing experience; work with medically fragile children in a school environment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of basic nursing concepts and patient care-related subjects
- Signs and symptoms of childhood and/or adolescent illnesses; general concepts of child development
- Ability to provide skilled vocational nursing services and administer injections/medications
- Evaluate and assess student illness or emergency medical situations
- Operate a variety of specialized medical equipment and related computers
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Driver's License Copy
- Health (California Licensed Vocational Nurse)
- AED certification (as applicable)
