What You Will Do
The Clinical Manager holds twenty‑four hour accountability for the delivery of quality nursing care and operational management of assigned unit. The job encompasses integration, facilitation, and coordination of leadership, management, operational, quality improvement coordination, and clinical activities of patient care services. This individual serves as a professional role model, leader, mentor, and clinical resource for nurses and other members of the health care team.
Individual is responsible for supervising all department employees. Understands and adheres to the California Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for nurses, the ANA Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses, and the ANA Scope and Standard for Nurse Administrators. Supports the mission and values of the Medical Center. Possess knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population in the department under their management.
Provides operational and clinical leadership for the NICU. Responsible for nursing practice, staffing, compliance with CCS requirements, and delivery of safe, high‑quality neonatal care.
- Other Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- 3 Years clinical experience in area of leadership.
- 1 Year NICU experience.
- 2 Years management experience in clinical area.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing
-REQUIRED - AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association
-REQUIRED - ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association
-REQUIRED - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Various-Employee provides certificate

- BSN or Bachelor’s degree in related field, required. May consider candidates who enroll in a Bachelor’s program within 6 months of transfer into position, with completion of program within 2 years of enrollment, required. Master’s degree (MSN/MBA/MHA or relevant to area of leadership) OR nationally recognized certification in nursing or healthcare administration, required.
- RNC in leadership/administration/clinical specialty.

- Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
- Integration, facilitation, and coordination of the leadership, management, operational, quality improvement coordination, and clinical activities of assigned patient care department.
- Serves as a professional role model, leader, mentor, and clinical resource for nurses and other members of the health care team.
- Maintains working knowledge of local health care issues, community standards as well as providers. Participates in strategic business planning and action implementation.
- Conducts performance assessments and evaluations of staff in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Utilizes appropriate staff disciplinary processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Manages daily nursing operations including staffing, assignments, and nurse-to-patient ratios
- Ensures charge nurse coverage on each shift
- Oversees orientation, competencies, and performance of NICU nursing staff
- Ensures compliance with CCS NICU standards, Title 22, and applicable regulations
- Coordinates CCS-required consult services and shared system CNS support
Collaborates with the NICU Medical Director and interdisciplinary team - Leads unit-based quality and performance improvement activities
