The Produce Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring that customers have access to fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables. This position involves maintaining the produce department's cleanliness and organization, which directly impacts customer satisfaction and sales. The Produce Clerk will be responsible for stocking, rotating, and displaying products in an appealing manner to attract customers. Additionally, this role requires monitoring inventory levels and assisting in ordering to ensure that the department is well‑stocked with seasonal and popular items.

Ultimately, the Produce Clerk contributes to a positive shopping experience by providing excellent customer service and product knowledge.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
• Basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables.

• Previous experience in a grocery or retail environment.
• Familiarity with food safety standards.
• Customer service experience.

• Stock and rotate produce items to ensure freshness and quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the produce department.
• Assist customers with inquiries and provide product recommendations.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
• Prepare and display produce items in an appealing manner to attract customers.

The required skills for this position include strong attention to detail, which is essential for maintaining the quality and presentation of produce. Effective communication skills are necessary to assist customers and provide them with accurate information about products. Physical stamina is important, as the role involves lifting and moving heavy items throughout the day. Preferred skills, such as experience in a retail environment, enhance the ability to understand customer needs and improve service delivery.

Additionally, knowledge of food safety standards helps ensure that all produce is handled and displayed in compliance with health regulations.

To meet operational needs and provide excellent customer service, Produce Clerks must be available to work all shifts, including early mornings, mid‑days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Schedules are determined weekly based on department needs.
