This entry-level Helper/Production Worker position is based at Camp Pendleton, supporting skilled trades professionals working on large hovercraft vessels. You will assist mechanics, welders, and fitters with various tasks, gaining hands-on experience with tools and equipment in a dynamic industrial setting. This role offers a strong pathway to grow into skilled trades such as a mechanic, welder, or electrician.
Responsibilities- Assist mechanics, welders, and fitters with daily tasks on large hovercraft boats.
- Handle, organize, and prepare hand and power tools for use by skilled trades personnel.
- Support basic facilities and maintenance tasks as directed.
- Help with simple electrical and plumbing-related tasks under supervision.
- Follow instructions from experienced tradespeople to complete production and repair work safely and efficiently.
- Lift, move, and position materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in and around the hangar.
- Use appropriate safety practices and follow all site and tool safety procedures.
- Work frequent overtime on Fridays and Saturdays as part of the regular schedule.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly about task status and any issues observed.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

WorkEnvironment
You will be working indoors in a hangar, which is open and spacious, on 80-foot hovercraft boats known as LCACs. The first shift runs from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Thursday, with frequent overtime on Fridays and Saturdays. The work setting supports collaboration and communication among team members, ensuring a productive and safe workplace.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oceanside, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
