Maintenance And Operations Department Position

The Person nel Commission announces an open and promotional recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until cancelled.

There is currently one position open in the Maintenance and Operations Department. This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position. Under direction of assigned supervisor, perform skilled maintenance work in the installation, repair, adjustment, and changing of keyed and combination locks and the repair of lockers. This may involve other skilled maintenance activities on occasion.

Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and three years of varied experience in the locksmith trade at the journey level. Knowledge of specific materials, tools, and methods used in the repair and maintenance of assigned trade. Locking devices available including electronic equipment and their uses. Occupational safety practices and procedures. Computer and mobile device operations.

Recordkeeping and report preparation techniques. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability to proficiently use hand and power tools, materials, and shop equipment related to specific trade. Perform skilled locksmith work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of locks on doors and cabinets. Repair and maintain buildings and related structural facilities or equipment. Work independently from sketches, plans, blueprints, and general instructions.

Prepare time and material estimates. Guide the work of a crew. Handle a variety of work orders and complete work on schedule. Perform heavy manual labor. Operate computer, mobile devices, and assigned software. Monitor and respond to requisitions in a computerized work order system. Understand, follow, and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
