CNC Machine Operator
This role focuses on operating CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily Mazak equipment, to produce a wide range of small to large metal parts for diverse industries such as agriculture, construction, trucking, forestry, and mining. You will follow detailed drawings and instructions, ensure parts meet exact specifications, and contribute to a high-quality, efficient production process in a busy, full-service CNC machine shop.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathes and machining centers, primarily Mazaks, to produce a variety of small to large metal parts with minimal scrap while meeting established production rates.
- Review and interpret drawings, instructions, blueprints, and samples to ensure accurate and consistent part production.
- Plan and follow the proper sequence of tasks required to complete each assignment efficiently and safely.
- Inspect parts using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify routing requirements, customer drawing specifications, quality plan dimensions, and SPC chart tracking for quality assurance.
- Document completed labor, quality checks, and production data, and promptly report errors, defects, or issues as required.
- Identify when machines or tools require maintenance and perform minor repairs to keep equipment running effectively.
- Learn and perform machine set-ups using provided documentation such as set-up sheets, quality plans, and routings to gather and organize fixtures, lathe jaws, tooling, inserts, and other equipment, completing set-ups in minimal time.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area in accordance with shop standards and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and management to support continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and scrap reduction.
- Follow all shop procedures and production schedules to help meet customer demand and long-term work orders.

Work Environment
This is a 1st shift position with standard hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2:00pm- 10pm, and 10pm- 6am. with plenty of overtime available but not mandatory. The shop is well lit and busy, with work orders already scheduled through 2027, providing a stable and active production environment. The facility is a traditional machine shop. The role involves occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs and working around CNC lathes, mills, and related equipment, with standard industrial attire appropriate for a hands-on manufacturing environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Oconomowoc, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $35.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
