Senior Network Engineer – Fort Meade, MD

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join the DISA Defense Red Switch Network team in support of an enterprise VoIP management system – GSM‑O II contract. The candidate will be responsible for designing, documenting, testing, deploying, and maintaining IP network solutions within an enterprise environment on a fast‑paced, high‑moving program.

Required: U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance.

• Work closely with DRSN engineers and site personnel for coordinating deployments and maintenance actions.
• Evaluate system network requirements and make appropriate technical recommendations.
• Proficiency with Juniper networking devices to include establishing remote management connectivity, updating operating systems, coordinating and performing verification tests (BER or "burn‑in" tests), configuring alarm and system profiles, and configuring/testing various layers of the OSI model.
• Assist IA personnel regarding network security and SSP maintenance to ensure the network configuration meets all IA requirements.
• Perform installation testing and acceptance (IT&A) of network components directly through GUI/CLI or interface systems, and facilitate remote testing with on‑site field engineering support.
• Monitor network performance.
• Support deployments as required.
• Expert knowledge of IP principles.

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of overall related experience or Master's with 10+ years. Specific experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience in remotely configuring networking or transport devices.
• Ability to map IP addresses and subnets for networking devices or establish in‑band/out‑of‑band management connections on transport devices.
• Ability to interpret network topology diagrams and proposed device configuration changes.
• Knowledge of configuring, deploying and supporting HAIPE/NSA Type 1 Encryption devices (GD KG175/Via Sat KGs/Airbus Ecto Crypt Black) – with element managers such as Gem One, viaSAT VINE, and Chimera.
• Knowledge configuring network devices with element managers such as Juniper Space, Security Director, Juniper Routing Director, Solar Winds NCM.

• Must possess an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance.
• Must possess current DoD 8570 certification at IAT level II, Security + ce.
• Proficiency with Juniper IOS or other IP/transport‑specific management tools (EMS) and general practices.
• Basic Linux administration or command‑line interface (CLI) and scripting skills.
• Network device configuration management skills through tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform.

• Experience managing configurations with Juniper Space, Routing Director, or Security Director.
• Expertise in IP technologies, networking architectures and methodologies, and voice services.
• Proficiency in at least two or more of the following devices: SONUS SBC, Juniper MX5 routers, Juniper SRX firewalls, Juniper EX switches, SONUS SBCs, KG175, KG250, Ectocrypt Black.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following tools:
  Solar Winds or Junos Space.
• JNCIA or JNCIP certification.
• Proficiency with RADIUS, SNMP, and NTP protocols.
• General knowledge of TLS and PKI.
