Senior Cloud Operations Engineer

Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Operations Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission-critical programs in Fort Meade, Maryland. As part of the Secure the Enterprise initiative, you will help modernize the system security evaluation and authorization process through automation, continuous monitoring, and data-driven operational support.

This is a blended engineering role supporting software development, systems engineering, systems administration, and operations. Working alongside a collaborative engineering team, you will monitor application health, support cloud and Linux environments, troubleshoot operational issues, and maintain critical enterprise services that enable 24x7 mission operations.

As an Application Engineer III, you'll have the opportunity to support modern cloud-based infrastructure, improve operational reliability, and contribute to innovative enterprise solutions supporting national security missions.

    Schedule:

    Rotating 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM / 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM).
  • Availability:
    Position supports 24x7 watch floor operations and requires participation in a rotating shift schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor application systems to ensure data reliability, availability, and operational accuracy.
  • Perform continuous monitoring and proactive troubleshooting to maintain application performance and system health.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues through system configuration changes, application updates, or escalation as appropriate.
  • Monitor dashboards, logs, alerts, metrics, and application status to prevent downtime and maintain service availability.
  • Support watch floor operations by identifying service degradation, failed dataflows, system errors, and application issues.
  • Perform Linux system administration tasks, including reviewing logs, checking service status, restarting services, validating resource utilization, and supporting server reboots.
  • Support cloud-based operations using the AWS Console or AWS CLI to monitor instance health, review system status, restart services, and perform basic operational troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across software development, systems engineering, systems administration, and operations to maintain reliable enterprise services.
  • Contribute to Secure the Enterprise initiatives by supporting automation, continuous monitoring, and operational excellence.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following technical areas:
    • Monitoring / Watch Floor Operations:
      Experience with Grafana, Kibana, Splunk, Cloud Watch, or similar monitoring platforms, including dashboard monitoring, alert triage, log analysis, incident escalation, and shift turnover.
    • Linux / Systems Administration:
      Experience administering Linux systems, including monitoring system health, managing services, reviewing logs, rebooting servers, and validating CPU, memory, and disk utilization.
    • Cloud / AWS Operations:
      Experience supporting AWS environments using the AWS Console or AWS CLI, including EC2 instance monitoring, service health checks, Lambda, C2E, HCI, and basic operational troubleshooting.
    • Dataflow / Application Support:
      Experience with Apache NiFi, Cribl, Kafka, Logstash, or similar data pipeline technologies supporting data movement, ingestion, queue monitoring, and application health.
    • Dev Ops:
      Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Git Lab Pipelines, and Docker.
  • Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
    • High School Diploma or GED and at least ten (10) years of relevant experience.
    • Associate's degree and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience.
    • Bachelor's degree and at least six (6) years of relevant experience.
    • Master's degree and at least four (4) years of relevant experience.
    • Doctoral degree and at least two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • IAT Level II certification desired (Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP, CND, etc)
