Tax Manager (CPA or EA) —

Odessa, Texas (In-Office Preferred | Remote Considered for the Right Candidate).

Germer & Co. is seeking a seasoned Tax Manager who can step into a leadership role with minimal ramp-up time. This position is designed for an experienced public accounting professional who is comfortable managing complex tax engagements, leading client relationships, reviewing the work of others, and mentoring staff from day one. Our preference is to base this position in the Odessa office to strengthen collaboration and client service, but we are open to remote candidates with significant public accounting experience who can work independently and maintain strong client relationships.

This is not an entry-level management opportunity. We are looking for someone who has successfully managed tax engagements in a public accounting firm, exercises sound professional judgment, and is ready to contribute immediately.

Lead complex tax engagements and client relationships. Review the work of others and mentor staff from day one. Demonstrate sound professional judgment and provide timely, high-quality service to clients. Collaborate with partners and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated tax services.

• Active CPA or EA designation.
• Preferred: 7+ years of recent public accounting experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or manager-level role.
• Significant experience reviewing complex tax returns and managing tax engagements.
• Proven ability to lead client relationships and mentor professional staff.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal and state taxation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make informed decisions.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and maintaining the highest ethical standards.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws, tax research methodologies, and planning strategies.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and people skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain exceptional attention to detail.
• Demonstrated initiative, sound professional judgment, and critical thinking skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored visa support.
