Salary Range

$42,041.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

The Library Acquisitions Specialist II supports the work of the Technical Services unit by coordinating the ordering, tracking, and processing of library materials and supplies from request through receipt. This role works closely with librarians, vendors, and campus partners to ensure timely access to resources that support teaching, learning, and research at The University of Texas Permian Basin. As part of a collaborative library team, the position contributes technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong organization to maintain accurate acquisitions records and efficient workflows.

* Perform acquisitions processes for ordering books, periodicals, electronic resources, and library supplies.

* Prepare and submit orders to vendors and other sources electronically and manually.

* Prepare invoices and payment documents for ordered materials and route to the appropriate office.

* Maintain vendor records and related documentation.

* Maintain accurate records of purchased materials and expenditures.

* Prepare documentation for newly received library materials for distribution.

* Use the acquisitions module of the Library Management System, Alma, to manage ordering records and accounts.

* Track acquisitions accounts and expenditures for all material purchases.

* Perform quality control on received materials and communicate shipment, billing, and return issues with vendors.

* Provide information on acquisitions policies and procedures.

* Participate in professional development related to acquisitions operations and library systems.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree. A degree in Library Science or related field is desirable.

2. Two (2) years of experience in a library setting or in the publishing/book trade industry.

3. Proficiency with computing software, including spreadsheets, databases and word processing.

4. Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and book keeping.

2. Ability to work with most aspects of digital asset management systems.

3. Familiarity working with Library Solutions such as Gobi, Rialto, OASIS.

4. Ability for setting work priorities; handling multiple assignments; meeting deadlines; working with confidential information.

5. Strong organizational skills to oversee and lead workflow.

6. Ability to follow established procedure, analyze problems, determine appropriate solutions, and offer suggestions to enhance efficiency.

7. Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision, take initiative, handle emergency situations in a professional manner.
