Job DescriptionPrimary
Purpose:
Supervise and ensure the safety of children; essentially providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children while promoting their learning and growth.
Must be at least 18 years old, complete a notarized Licensing Affidavit, demonstrate physical stamina, and demonstrate oral communication skills.
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited HS or GED Program
Special Knowledge
Skills:
- Knowledge of the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and creative needs of young children.
- Ability to relate positively to young children.
- Ability to work well with parents and understand their needs and requests.
Experience:
- Previous teaching experience in pre‑school or day care is helpful.
- Supervise children’s safety, nutrition, and activities.
- Be responsible for the appearance, arrangement and learning environment of the work area.
- Comply with Texas Health and Human Services Commission (THHS) Child Care Regulation:
Minimum Standards for Child‑Care Centers and Texas Rising Star classroom requirements. - Participate in the number of hours of training mandated by State Regulation and Texas Rising Star (TRS).
- Comply with meal service procedures set forth by Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and ECISD’s School Nutrition Dept.
- Follow and implement curriculum approved by Texas Rising Star and ECISD including creating and implementing lesson plans.
- Keep records of children for the following: daily classroom documentation log, daily attendance, daily activity log, daily diaper logs (if applicable), developmental growth trackers, child assessments, daily reports for parents.
- Participate in Parent‑teacher conferences.
- Participate in parent engagement events.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district wide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
