Plans Examiner City of Odessa
Are you interested in reading blueprints and navigating building codes? Join us as a Plans Examiner and be the expert who reviews construction plans, ensures code compliance, and helps guide projects smoothly from start to finish!
What You’ll Do:- Review and approve building permit applications, plans, and specifications
- Meet with contractors and the public to clarify code and zoning requirements
- Ensure all projects meet local building codes and ordinances
- Collaborate with city officials to resolve technical issues
- Maintain accurate records and support smooth departmental operations
- High School Diploma/GED and 2 years’ experience reading blueprints and construction documents or the equivalent
- Knowledge of building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical codes & zoning
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- ICC Plans Examiner Certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
