This is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant Building Official, based in Odessa, TX. The Assistant Building Official will oversee building inspections, enforce building codes and regulations, and assist in the review and approval of building plans. Responsibilities include conducting site inspections, addressing code violations, providing guidance to contractors and property owners, and offering technical expertise to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency in construction projects.

• Proficiency in interpreting and applying building codes, regulations, and standards.
• Experience in conducting site inspections and identifying code violations.
• Strong knowledge of building plan review processes and construction practices.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with contractors, property owners, and team members.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to provide technical guidance and recommendations.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance requirements in construction projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant certifications (such as ICC certifications) in building inspection or plan review are highly desirable.
• Previous municipal or regulatory experience in building inspections or code enforcement is a plus.
