The Wrangler Express Center including the Call Center is the front door of the College and will provide first-class customer service to students, parents and the community. It serves as a first call/visit resolution center for all student services-related needs. It is a place to come or call to find decisive and guided assistance in admission, registration, financial aid, payment options and to receive answers to questions about attending college.

Specific

Position Duties
  • Provide high quality customer service to all current and prospective students, as well as others visiting, calling, instant messaging or emailing the Wrangler Express Center/Call Center
  • Serve as first contacts by actively engaging and triaging students and community members to ensure that each receives the appropriate assistance to meet their individual needs
  • Use decision-making skills to process applications for admissions to the College, various documents and forms related to admissions, and maintain document imaging procedures, etc.
  • Guide students in completing the initial steps of enrollment such as applying for admissions, and interpretation of residency questions and requirements to ensure a smooth transition along their educational pathway at the College
  • Determine and post designated residency status on each applicant
  • Receive high school and college transcripts as officials of the College
  • Respond to all student inquiries regarding admissions, financial aid, registration drops, adds, and withdrawals, account balances and holds
  • Assist students in learning the various aspects of using the student portal for registration and student information retrieval
  • Assist students with updating contact information upon request
  • Serve as Cashier, properly receipting monies received while maintaining security over cash funds
  • Properly reconcile cash drawer daily and record balance in a daily log
  • Advise prospective and continuing students and parents of available payment options
  • Guide students in completing the online payment plan
  • Direct students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA )
  • Advise prospective and continuing students and parents regarding financial aid applications, procedures, eligibility requirements, college policies and availability of federal, state, local and institutional financial aid
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures as well as quickly learn new ones, multi-task, troubleshoot, problem solve, and pay particular attention to detail
  • Demonstrated success of teamwork skills as well as an ability to work independently
  • Participate in community sponsored events to promote College programs and services
  • Contribute to and participate in campus-wide success initiatives to transform OC into the number one community college in the nation
  • Perform other duties assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, evening and Saturday work is required without supervisory oversight.
  • Keyboard skills with ability to produce and maintain accurate records and professional quality material
  • Demonstrated background in assuming responsibility, initiative, and working under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills including spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Work record demonstrating good rapport with the public and a genuine desire to work with a diverse student and community population
  • Dependable, particularly regarding time schedules
  • Ability to operate standard office machines and software packages
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures and quickly learn new ones, multi-task, pay particular attention to detail
  • Demonstrated success of teamwork, decision-making and problem solving skills.

Work Hours Nature of the position will require work days and hours outside the normal college schedule.
