The University of Texas Permian Basin's School of Nursing welcomes applications for the position of Faculty Associate Adjunct

Salary Range

$3,000.00 depending on depending on number of classes, semesters, & qualifications

Essential Functions

The School of Nursing at UTPB welcomes applications for adjunct faculty in Nursing. The part-time didactic or clinical faculty member will either teach clinical or didactic courses, in accordance with the schedule of classes, and follow the approved course description(s) and syllabi as established and administered by the Dean with the approval of the Provost.

Non-teaching assignments include instructional development, academic advising and assisting students, registration assignments, participating in university-wide activities and task forces, and other appropriate responsibilities. This is an exempt, non-tenured faculty position. In this role, the faculty member is expected to attend scheduled classes and posted office hours. Days, evenings and weekend hours will be required to grade materials, create and/or update course delivery, participate in recruitment events and other academic events.

* Teach a variety of classes in accordance with the course syllabus and University policy while actively seeking ways to improve instruction. Continue to update and revise course content and teaching methodology in order to maintain currency and relevance.

* Collaborate and/or provide assistance to associate faculty in regard to course content and instructional materials.

* Maintain general knowledge of degree requirements, programs and course transfer information.

* Actively participate and attend department, division and university-wide committees and meetings.

* Actively participate in assisting the University in maintaining standards required for accreditation.

* Participate in full regalia in official graduation ceremonies and other official functions as requested by the Dean.

* Perform other duties as determined in consultation with the Dean, Academic Chair, and/or Provost.

Required Qualifications

* Master's Degree (MSN) or higher in Nursing

* Unencumbered license to practice nursing in TX or another compact state required (or eligible for licensure.)

* Proven expertise in primary care, women's health, preventive medicine and patient education

* Advanced collaboration and communication skills

* The ability to successfully pass a criminal background check

* Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skill levels

* Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student centered methods of instruction

* Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment

* Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evening assignments - daytime availability a plus (in some cases, may be required)

Preferred Qualifications

* Doctorate in Nursing

* Experience in baccalaureate nursing education and curriculum development

* Specialization in Community & Public Health

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm;
Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Faculty hours may differ based on class schedule and department need.

Standard Working Conditions

1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
