The Director of Instructional Support plays a critical role in advancing the college's mission by providing leadership and supervision to the three tutoring centers at Odessa College. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of the Learning Resource Center (Library), the Director of Instructional Support ensures that the college meets the tutoring and academic support needs of all students.

Specific Position Duties

* Provides leadership and supervision to all tutoring and instructional support programs and locations, including Supplemental Instruction, embedded tutoring, mandatory tutoring, drop-in tutoring, online tutoring and other peer-to-peer and professional staff led programs for students and the community.

* Manages the daily operations of Instructional Support and Tutoring Services and other offsite and campus tutoring locations.

* Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates full-time STEM/Supplemental Instructor Coordinator, full-time Writing Center Coordinator, part-time tutoring staff and student assistants.

* Provides mentoring and career development when possible.

* Assist with the development and execution of department projects, initiatives, and operations. Conducts long-range planning of work including recommending changes in practices and procedures impacting Tutoring and other Instructional Support at Odessa College.

* Develops program evaluation and assessment tools.

* Identifies resources needed and develops budget requests.

* Develops and maintains regular reports to monitor the effectiveness of tutoring and instructional support efforts and to provide critical data and information to other campus departments.

* Consults with academic Schools and student support departments to determine tutoring and instructional support needed across the curriculum and campus.

* Collaborates with departments across campus to develop and provide effective tutoring services.

* Develops appropriate strategies, messaging and campaigns to reach target audiences.

* Effectively markets tutoring and instructional supports to campus and community.

* Directs creation of internal distribution materials and coordinates classroom informational presentations.

* Develops materials for College, department meetings and new faculty orientations.

* Distributes information to appropriate staff and departments.

* Coordinates tutoring efforts with high school partners and fosters relationships for collaboration with service area Schools including TSI-A Prep.

* Coordinates New Tutor Training Program for all tutors.

* Coordinates continuing Tutor Training Program Certification and Recertification.

* Serves on college committees as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

* Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively and effectively across disciplinary boundaries with faculty, students and staff; work with and respond to the needs of students and faculty from a variety of academic disciplines.

* Plan, organize, and direct others in the formation of program and policy in the operation of the various activities of Instructional Support.

* Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, management and facilitation skills; and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
