The University of Texas Permian Basin's Department of Mathematics welcomes applications for Lecturer / Senior Lecturer. The anticipated start date is August 2026. Priority will be given to applications received by January 10, 2026.

Salary Range

$60,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

The College of Engineering and Sciences at The University of Texas Permian Basin invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mathematics. We are seeking passionate educators dedicated to engaging undergraduate students through dynamic, high-quality instruction in both face-to-face and online settings. This non-tenure-track, full-time position is offered on a nine-month contract, with opportunities for summer teaching. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting student learning, contributing to curriculum development, and advancing the University's mission to provide exceptional educational experiences in the mathematical sciences.

* Teach up to 30 credit hours per contract year.

* Employ sound pedagogical practices and utilize appropriate instructional technology.

* Achieve measurable student-learning outcomes in all courses taught.

* Advise and mentor students to support academic progress, professional preparation, and success in graduate study or research.

* Provide individual support to students during weekly office hours.

* Participate in course and curriculum revisions and assist with program development as assigned.

* Complete student course evaluations for all courses taught.

* Abide by deadlines and institutional policies for grading, assessment, and course documentation.

* Collaborate with colleagues and department leadership to advance the Mathematics program and support institutional goals.

* Provide support to students in need of academic improvement.

* Engage in departmental and university service as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

1. Ph.D. for Senior Lecturer or MS degree for Lecturer in math, or a closely related area.

2. Ability to teach freshman to junior level courses needed.

3. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. College-level teaching experience, which may include teaching labs as a graduate student.

2. Ability to teach in various areas of the program.

3.

Experience with students' academic mentoring.

Additional Information

From the Department

The College of Engineering and Sciences is a newly formed College as of 2024. The College offers B.S. in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, and Petroleum Engineering and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering as well as B.S. in Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, and Mathematics and M.S. in Computer Science and Geology. The Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering Programs are ABET Accredited.

The College is also home to the Texas Water and Energy Institute and the newly opened Advanced Manufacturing Center. The College is housed in building that opened 2019, with excellent facilities for instructional and curricular activities and research and development.
