Job Description

The Dean of Dual Credit provides strategic and operational leadership for Odessa College’s dual credit programs. This role ensures the quality, alignment, and effectiveness of dual credit instruction across partner school districts. The Dean works closely with both instructional leadership and academic partnership teams to coordinate curriculum alignment, program development, instructional support, and compliance with state, accreditation, and institutional standards.

The Dean directly supervises, and trains embedded instructors, supports faculty teaching dual credit courses, and collaborates with ISD partners to design instructional plans that align with Odessa College pathways and workforce needs. While the Academic Partnerships office manages district relationships and program agreements, the Dean ensures that the academic integrity, grading, and instructional components of dual credit courses meet Odessa College’s standards of excellence.

Specific

Position Duties Instructional Leadership
  • Provide oversight for all dual credit instruction, ensuring consistency with Odessa College curriculum, syllabi, student and program learning outcomes.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate embedded instructors teaching Odessa College dual credit courses.
  • Ensure compliance with SACSCOC, THECB, and Odessa College instructional policies.
  • Support faculty in implementing high-impact instructional practices to increase student success and persistence.
Faculty Development & Training
  • Design and deliver professional development for embedded instructors and dual credit faculty on pedagogy, assessment, and student support.
  • Monitor instructional quality through classroom observations, student feedback, and faculty performance measures.
  • Facilitate communities of practice to connect dual credit faculty with Odessa College academic departments.
Collaboration & Program Development
  • Partner with the VP for Academic Partnerships, ISDs, and Odessa College instructional leaders to align dual credit offerings with college pathways and degree programs.
  • Support the development of instructional plans that ensure dual credit coursework applies toward Odessa College credentials.
  • Coordinate with ISDs to address instructional challenges and ensure course rigor and integrity.
Compliance & Accountability
  • Maintain oversight of grading standards, course delivery, and student performance in dual credit programs.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of dual credit instruction in collaboration with Registrar and Institutional Effectiveness.
  • Monitor data related to student success, credit applicability, and completion outcomes for dual credit students.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, preferably in academic leadership, dual credit, or instructional supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SACSCOC, THECB, and dual credit policies and regulations.
  • Experience working with secondary school systems, faculty development, and program design.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising faculty, including adjunct and embedded instructors.
  • Knowledge of guided pathways, student success initiatives, and dual credit/early college program models.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with both K–12 and higher education stakeholders.
