General SummaryThe Associate Vice President for Instruction, Curriculum and Workforce Education (AVPI) is a member of the Instructional leadership team, serving in a direct advisory and operational capacity to the Vice President for Instruction (VPI). This role is designed to extend and support the VPI’s leadership across the college’s academic and workforce portfolio, functioning as a collaborative partner in advancing instructional quality, curriculum integrity, and workforce alignment.
The AVPI serves as an associate of the Vice President, sharing in the execution of divisional priorities, cross‑institutional initiatives, and compliance obligations. The position works in close coordination with the VPI, the Instructional Leadership Team, deans, faculty, and institutional partners to advance a cohesive and continuously improving academic experience for students.
- Co‑leads curriculum planning and development in partnership with the Vice President for Instruction, supporting the alignment of academic programs with college priorities, state requirements, and workforce needs.
- Assists the VPI in providing oversight and direction for curriculum review, course approval processes, and program evaluation across the Division of Instruction.
- Co‑chairs the Curriculum Committee alongside the Vice President for Instruction, facilitating effective shared governance and ensuring curriculum decisions are timely, evidence‑based, and aligned with college policy.
- Supports the development and revision of instructional programs to ensure academic rigor, coherence, and responsiveness to student and workforce needs.
- Leads state and federal reporting obligations for both academic and workforce programs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with THECB, TWC, and other applicable regulatory bodies.
- Collaborates with institutional effectiveness and research, deans, and program chairs and directors to gather and verify data necessary for required reports and program reviews.
- Serves as a key point of contact for reporting related to Perkins V federal career and technical education funding, including grant development, compliance monitoring, and performance reporting.
- Leads the development, implementation, and annual revision of the Perkins V Local Application in alignment with state and federal requirements.
- Coordinates with workforce and CTE faculty, deans, and institutional partners to ensure grant‑funded activities are purposefully integrated into program planning and student outcomes work.
- Monitors Perkins‑funded program performance and provides updates to the VPI and Instructional Leadership Team on progress toward targets.
- Leads the design and expansion of workforce education programs, including credit and non‑credit pathways, apprenticeships, and industry‑aligned credential programs.
- Works with the VPI and instructional deans to identify emerging workforce needs in the region and translate those into actionable program development strategies.
- Develops and sustains partnerships with employers, industry partners, and community stakeholders to support workforce program viability and student employment outcomes.
- Advances apprenticeship program development and implementation in alignment with state and federal frameworks.
- Works alongside the VPI and Instructional Leadership Team to strengthen college‑wide assessment practices, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and institutional continuous improvement goals.
- Provides direct support to the office of instruction on assessment strategy, faculty development related to assessment, and the use of assessment data to inform instructional decisions.
