- Provide academic instruction for students who are deaf and hard of hearing in their primary mode of communication within a residential education setting.
- Deliver individual and small group instruction in academic areas such as reading, math, science, and any other non‑academic areas addressed by the IEP for K‑12 students.
- Implement assigned curricula, prepare daily lessons, use materials and manipulatives, and assess and document student progress.
- Plan instructional activities; prepare IEPs; address individual problems related to student progress, performance, or behavior; prepare report cards.
- Supervise and instruct teaching assistants; supervise student teachers and/or observers from colleges.
- Participate in school‑related activities; attend committee meetings and in‑service workshops; plan and implement field trips; administer formal and informal tests/assessments.
- Communicate with residential and student support programs, academic staff, parents, local educational agencies, and serve as a liaison.
- Administer, proctor, compile, and submit state‑mandated tests, portfolios, and inventories in accordance with state policies and procedures.
- Perform daily duties with supervisors, office, students, and service providers, including bus duties, report dissemination, and inventory verification.
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent; or an educational program that qualifies under the Department of Public Instruction requirements.
- Experience in academic instruction for deaf and hard of hearing students is preferred; experience may substitute for education as outlined in the Education and Experience Equivalency Guide.
- Ability to implement IEP goals, manage daily lessons, assess student performance, and communicate with staff, parents, and agencies.
