General SummaryThe Assistant Director of LVN Program & Clinical Coordinator for Nursing Programs dual‑role position supports the LVN Program as Assistant Program Director while also serving as the Clinical Coordinator for all nursing programs at Odessa College. The individual will ensure program compliance, support academic excellence, and manage clinical partnerships to promote high‑quality nursing education. This role combines academic leadership with operational coordination of clinical experiences.
SpecificPosition Duties Assistant Program Director – LVN Program
- Assist the Program Director in scheduling, curriculum planning, and operational oversight for the LVN Program.
- Participate in budget planning and manage program resources, including supply ordering and clinical partner coordination.
- Conduct classroom and clinical observations and provide faculty feedback for continuous improvement.
- Support the hiring, mentoring, and training of LVN faculty.
- Oversee LVN student academic progress, address concerns, and provide equitable academic advising.
- Contribute to faculty evaluation processes, annual performance reviews, and instructional quality assessments.
- Represent the LVN program in meetings, graduation ceremonies, and other official events including recruiting and marketing efforts.
- Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and community partners.
- Engage in strategic planning and decision‑making to support program growth and student success.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with program accreditation standards, including assessments and documentation for the LVN program.
- Teach various courses, simulations, and clinical components of each program at various times, locations and methods as needed and reasonably requested within scope of practice.
- Affirm the worth and dignity of all persons and the right of all persons to learn through instruction.
- Deliver material in a clear and understandable manner.
- Prepare adequately and arrive promptly to class, meetings, labs, and other scheduled activities.
- Utilize appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners.
- Provide students with written expectations, e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.
- Maintain an appropriate learning and assessment climate in the classroom, whether traditional, web, or distance, that encourages the free exchange of ideas while defending academic honesty and objectivity.
- Address student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted office hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Dean of the School of Health and Sciences.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of clinical education requirements per the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Coordinate and manage clinical schedules, simulations, and clinical placements across all nursing programs (ADN, LVN, and BSN).
- Ensure timely communication and collaboration with all clinical partners throughout the Odessa College service area.
- Serve as liaison between the college and clinical partners to manage and track affiliation agreements and preceptor contracts.
- Identify, formulate, manage, and track preceptor agreements and affiliation agreements between Odessa College and all clinical partners.
- Support clinical faculty and students by providing orientation, resources, and problem‑solving assistance related to clinical placements, services, and processes.
- Collaborate with nursing directors to assess and improve clinical participation, curriculum alignment, and learning outcomes.
- Represent Odessa College at clinical committee and hospital board meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all clinical documentation and provide training for faculty and staff on clinical processes and systems.
