Behavior Specialist
Wage: $68,600 – $92,811 Per Year (Full-Time, Pay Grade
2)
To work with school staff, families, and students with behavior disorders to create an appropriate individualized program to enable students to progress towards their goals outlined in their educational program.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree with additional training and knowledge of students with behavioral disorders.
- Master's Degree in Psychology/Special Education (Preferred).
- Three years' special education teaching experience (Preferred).
- Special Education Teaching Certificate (Preferred).

Skills:
Ability to read, interpret, write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before staff, students, and parents. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide all units of measurement, use whole numbers, ratios, and interpret bar graphs. - Reasoning Ability:
Apply common sense to carry out instructions; solve problems with multiple variables. - Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports knowledge.
- Experience working with students who exhibit disruptive behavior.
- Experience implementing FBAs and BIPs in the educational setting.
- Observe students and assist campuses with data collection and assessments for behavior support services, including functional behavior analysis (FBA).
- Identify and define behaviors, antecedents, consequences, and replacement behaviors.
- Measure frequency/duration and hypothesize functions of behavior.
- Develop and implement positive behavior support plans (BIP) as part of IEPs.
- Include data collection, behavior strategies, environmental changes, and provide ongoing consultation.
- Monitor student progress and recommend ongoing services and supports.
- Consult and assist teachers in developing classroom positive behavior support and individual BIPs.
- Adhere to consultation frequency as prescribed in the BIP/IEP.
- Participate in ARDC meetings as necessary.
- Comply with district and legal requirements/timelines.
- Develop and conduct professional learning on FBA, BIP, positive behavior supports, and remediation of behavioral, social, or personal problems.
- Provide professional learning in data collection and use of positive behavior support techniques.
- Pursue updated information and training in behavioral analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Mental and physical demands include maintaining emotional control under stress, standing, walking, sitting for long periods, lifting up to 45 pounds, assisting students with restraint and adaptive equipment, occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Requires good vision and may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
