Adjunct Instructor of English

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned course in the curriculum
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field
• Utilize appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners
• Provide students with written expectations such as syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.
• Affirm worth and dignity of all persons and right of all persons to learn through instruction
• Prepare adequately for class and devote appropriate time to classroom activities
• Deliver material in a clear understandable manner
• Address student concerns: comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted student support hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means
• Complete grading of all assignments within 5 business days
• Complete Course Checklists, First Week Attendance and Final Grades by the institutional deadlines
• Attend mandatory meetings and required training for online instruction
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Master’s degree in English or Master’s degree and 18 hours of graduate coursework in English

• Experience teaching college courses and web courses in English or other subject area
• Experience using Black Board as a Learning Management Service
