Position: SPECIALIST - ADVANCED ACADEMIC SERVICES FOR ELEMENTARY

Advanced Academic Services Specialist – Elementary

Support the implementation of Advanced Academic Services at the elementary level by building teacher capacity through instructional support, professional learning, and data-informed practices, while ensuring aligned curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems and contributing to extended learning opportunities that provide rigorous experiences for advanced academic and gifted students in alignment with district priorities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned Must obtain the TEA/Gifted (GT) certificate/endorsement within one year of serving as a Gifted/Talented Program Teacher
Special Knowledge Skills
  • Training in gifted education, agrees to meet gifted endorsement requirements
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Knowledge of best practices for Gifted and Talented and Academically Advanced Students
  • Knowledge of International Baccalaureate Programme and Advanced Placement Program (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with technology applications and digital resources
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to develop and provide personalized professional learning to adult learners
  • Proven track record of student growth and positive evaluations from supervisor
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
  • Minimum three years teaching experience in subject area assigned
  • Minimum three years' experience teaching Gifted and Talented Students

Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional and Program Management
  • Support the implementation of the AVID WICOR instructional framework to strengthen consistent, high-quality Tier I instruction across classrooms.
  • Provide targeted instructional support for Kindergarten through Grade 2 teachers through inclusion and cluster grouping practices aligned to the district's GT services model.
  • Design, model, and support instructional strategies, lessons, and practices that promote advanced academic learning, differentiation, and student engagement.
  • Support teachers in utilizing Edu Hub and district-adopted HQIM to ensure aligned, accessible curriculum resources and reduce redundancy across campuses.
  • Support campus implementation of aligned curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems (YAGs, unit overviews, and common assessments) in accordance with district expectations.
  • Engage in Strategic PLCs to support teachers in analyzing student performance data and translating insights into instructional action.
  • Assist teachers in interpreting and applying multiple sources of data to inform differentiation, grouping, and instructional planning.
  • Support MTSS structures specific to advanced academic and gifted learners, ensuring extensions, enrichment, and acceleration are aligned to student needs and performance data.
  • Participate in Data Tours and instructional walkthroughs to gather evidence of implementation and support actionable next steps for instructional improvement.
  • Design, facilitate, and support professional development for all teachers to strengthen differentiation, rigor, and advanced academic instructional practices.
  • Provide job-embedded coaching, modeling, and collaborative planning to support implementation of professional learning in classrooms.
  • Collaborate with AAS Coordinators to support implementation of district Advanced Academic Services, including GT identification processes and program initiatives.
  • Collaborate with GT Program Teachers to align instructional practices and student supports; does not supervise or evaluate GT staff.
  • Collaborate across campuses and departments to support coherence of systems, resources, and instructional practices aligned to district priorities.
  • Support consistent implementation of district initiatives to strengthen system-wide effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Provide feedback to coordinators and campus leadership regarding curriculum implementation, instructional practices, and program effectiveness.
