Position SummaryPRISMECS is seeking an experienced Electrical O&M Technician to support a 40 MW diesel-generator power plant in Odessa, Texas.
The Electrical O&M Technician is responsible for the day-to-day electrical operation, inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of the medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems supporting the temporary power facility. This includes switch gear, transformers, protective relays, circuit breakers, generator electrical systems, and associated electrical balance-of-plant equipment.
Candidates must have hands-on experience with medium-voltage electrical systems, switch gear operations, and generator synchronization or paralleling activities. This position requires rotating 12-hour shift coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily inspection and monitoring of MV switch gear (Load SWGR Lineup #1 & #2), breakers, and transformers — voltage, load current, relay status, breaker position
Monitor generator electrical parameters (voltage, frequency, load, power factor) and support synchronization/paralleling operations
Conduct routine electrical inspections and preventive maintenance on switch gear, breakers, and transformers
Support protective relay operations, breaker racking, and troubleshooting of electrical faults (trips, alarms, fuse failures)
Assist with energization/de-energization sequences, LOTO procedures, and switching operations per approved switching orders
Maintain and update the switching log and electrical operations records
Identify and report electrical abnormalities (overheating, unusual noise, smoke, relay alarms) immediately to the O&M Lead
Complete daily/shift electrical logs and support commissioning/testing activities as needed
Support EHS compliance — arc flash PPE, LOTO, and safe electrical work practices
Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings
RequirementsQualifications:
3+ years of experience in MV electrical systems, switch gear, and generator paralleling operations (industrial/power generation preferred)
Working knowledge of protective relays, breakers, and MV switch gear operations
Experience with generator control/synchronization panels (e.g., Woodward Easy Gen) preferred
Ability to read single-line diagrams and electrical schematics
Strong troubleshooting and electrical safety awareness (NFPA 70E / arc flash awareness)
Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights/weekends
OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 70E training preferred; journeyman electrician license a plus
