Calpine Corporation seeks an Operator Technician III to support safe, reliable power generation across its modern fleet of natural gas-fired and geothermal plants. In this on-site role, you will operate and monitor plant equipment and control systems, perform routine inspections, troubleshoot operational issues, and support minor maintenance to maximize reliability and efficiency. You will follow strict safety and environmental procedures, respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, and assist with startups, shutdowns, and emergency response.
Working closely with maintenance and engineering teams, you will contribute to data-driven decisions, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives that advance Calpine's cleaner energy and operational excellence goals.
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and adjust plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient power generation
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance on gas-fired and geothermal systems
- Monitor control systems, record operational data, and respond to alarms or abnormal conditions
- Follow strict safety, environmental, and regulatory procedures and documentation standards
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to optimize plant performance
- Support startup, shutdown, and emergency response activities per plant procedures
- Assist with root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and shift handovers to ensure seamless operations
